Awkwafina

American actor and musician Awkwafina debuted with sly rap tracks that tackled sexuality and racial identities with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before expanding her reach into Hollywood. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese and Korean parents in Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was her first instrument. In the following years, she took up traditional and hip-hop training. Following a focus on education, she graduated with a degree in journalism in university and also a women's study specialization. Not until after graduation did she start focusing on music. In 2012, My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an online hit, and it was featured in her debut LP Yellow Ranger. The album also featured popular hits, including the body positive Queef and winking hometown tour NYC Bitche$1. The song was is directly linked to the album Awkwafinas NYC, her guide to travel in 2015. Her resume contained both an the musician and author. She was now looking to expand her career into acting. Alongside early TV shows such as Girl Code and Tawk she was also in films like Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. She had a breakthrough role in the year 2018 when she appeared in a number of high profile films, including Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. In June, she released the EP In Fina We Trust.
